Durga Designs is a South Asian dress house on Stratford Road, led by designer Shanti. We design traditional and contemporary Sindhi and Thari dress, and we make it with the artisan women of Tharparkar, in southern Sindh.

Our Story

Designed in Sparkhill. Embroidered by Hand in the Thar Desert.

Durga Designs is led by Shanti, who designs traditional and contemporary Sindhi and Thari dress from our shop on Stratford Road. We have a long-standing partnership with Thar Textiles, a women-led craft enterprise in Mithi, Tharparkar, in southern Sindh — she designs, and their artisan women embroider each piece by hand, in daylight, in the villages where these stitches have been worked for generations. The finished garments come back to Birmingham. Alongside the collection, our in-house workshop, Misha Tailoring, cuts, fits and finishes on the premises.
